The CREDANT Board of Directors is comprised of talented and respected professionals with more than 100 years of combined experience, working for leading security and mobile wireless technology companies, federal security agencies and high-tech manufacturing companies including IBM, Adobe, Entrust, Hewlett-Packard, Tivoli Systems and Sterling Commerce.


John Borchers

General Partner, Crescendo Ventures

John Borchers joined Crescendo Ventures in 1997 and has played a leading role in developing the firm's international presence, from Crescendo's London office. John is now based in Palo Alto where he focuses on investment opportunities in the enterprise infrastructure market. Prior to joining Crescendo Ventures, John worked in the data warehousing and predictive analytics fields where he held various operational roles including a two-year posting to Sydney, Australia, where he opened the first Asia-Pacific office for a U.S.-based data warehousing firm. John received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond. In addition to CREDANT technologies, John has been involved with a number of Crescendo portfolio companies in both Europe and the U.S. including BDNA Corporation, NetCentrex, Riodata, SealedMedia, StoneFly Networks and Transitive Corporation.

Bob Heard

CEO & Founder, CREDANT Technologies
2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Bob Heard, with over 30 years of proven experience in business and technology management, leads CREDANT’s focus on building value. Bob founded CREDANT effective September 17th, 2001 (immediately following 9/11) with a vision, business plan, dedicated team and initial sponsorship from Austin Ventures. He began his career at IBM and has held subsequent leadership roles in two start-ups, Sterling Commerce and Entrust. Bob has received numerous awards and recognition for his entrepreneurship including the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, 2006 Tech Titan nominee and the 2008 TiE Renegade Entrepreneur. INC magazine recognized CREDANT in 2007 and 2008 as the #1 fastest growing security software company based upon 3-year revenue growth. Bob is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

David Reed

Senior Vice Chair, Ernst & Young, retired

David Reed is President of Causeway Capital Management, which is the Managing Partner of his family investment partnership. He is the Co-Founder and a principal shareholder of ANSRSource, which provides captive incubation services in India for Fortune companies. He retired as Senior Vice Chair for Ernst & Young in 2000, where he held several senior U.S. and global operating, administrative and marketing roles in his 26-year tenure with the firm, including eleven years on its U.S. and Global Management committees. He was instrumental in founding Ernst & Young’s venture capital fund in 1998 where he gained considerable insight into software and Internet start-up technologies.

In addition, he currently serves on the public boards of Lone Star Technologies (oil country tubular goods manufacturer), Drew Industries (RV and manufactured housing component manufacturing), and Penson Worldwide (independent clearing firm for international broker dealers). Further, he provides consulting and strategic advisory roles for Red Rock Ventures III (Silicon Valley venture capital fund).

Chris Pacitti

General Partner, Austin Ventures

Chris Pacitti began his venture capital career in 1995 and joined Austin Ventures in 1999 as a Partner. Chris focuses primarily on early-stage technology companies in the software and Internet sectors. He currently serves on the Board's of Bazaarvoice, Brazos, Complex Media, CREDANT, Dachis Group, Innography, Mindjolt, NewComLink, Troux, Virtual Bridges, and Worksoft. He has been a board member of numerous other companies including Pluck (NASDAQ: DMD), Permeo (NASDAQ: BCSI), Vovici (NASDAQ: VRNT), Powered (acquired by Dachis Group), Hire.com (acquired by Peopleclick Authoria), BetweenMarkets (acquired by Inovis) and ON Networks (acquired by Complex Media). Chris started his venture career with TL Ventures, where he was a Vice President and also focused on early-stage technology investing. Prior to TL Ventures, Chris was a Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of a technology start-up company that pioneered several industrial applications for a novel oxidizing chemistry.Chris received his BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University. He previously served on the Microsoft Venture Capital Advisory Board and on the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas Board.

Jan Lindelow

Chairman & CEO, IBM/Tivoli Systems, retired

Jan Lindelow is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IBM/Tivoli Systems Inc. Prior to joining Tivoli, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Symbol Technologies, held senior executive positions with Asea Brown Boveri, and served as President of Worldwide Sales and Services at Unisys/Sperry Computer Systems. Jan received a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He lives in Austin, Texas, and serves on the board of directors of Active Power, CREDANT Technologies, Hire.com, two Austin-based start-up companies, and of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce.

Pravin A. Vazirani

Managing Director, Menlo Ventures

Pravin Vazirani joined Menlo Ventures in 2001. He began his career at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he designed digital receivers for satellite communications. Later, he worked as an Engineer for Pacific Communication Sciences and as a Product Manager for ADC Telecommunications in their Wireless Systems Group. Most recently, he evaluated investment opportunities for @Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of CMGI. Pravin represents Menlo Ventures on the boards of Carbonite, CREDANT Technologies, Like.com and Sepaton. He is also involved with the firm’s investments in Centrality Communications, newScale and Q1 Labs. Pravin is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, and of the Harvard University Graduate School of Business with a MBA.
