CREDANT Technologies Founder Named Winner of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year? 2005 Award

Bob Heard, founder, president and CEO of CREDANT Technologies, was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2005 in the Realizing Business Potential category by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP. Heard was selected from 22 finalists in the Southwest Area (North Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas) by an independent panel of judges comprised of local business, academic and community leaders. The award was announced at a banquet on June 18, 2005 at the International Apparel Mart in Dallas.

In 2001, Bob Heard recognized that a new wave of mobile and wireless computing was emerging, and understood that mass adoption would not occur until the security of mobile information was assured. Austin Ventures funded CREDANT on September 17, 2001 during a period of national crisis and economic uncertainty. With Bob Heard’s leadership and the CREDANT team’s desire to succeed, the company has become the most recognized mobile security company, with over 65 employees and offices in Texas, California, Chicago, New York, Washington, DC and London.

“Our vision to make it safe for companies to use mobile computers to increase productivity has become a reality and it is an honor to be recognized by Ernst & Young for this achievement,” said Bob Heard, president and CEO, CREDANT Technologies. “Each week there is another story about how a high-profile company has successfully mobilized and our solutions are part of many of those stories – this would not have been accomplished without the passion, dedication and support of the entire CREDANT team.”

CREDANT exceeded 700,000 product licenses sold in the first quarter of 2005 and achieved a 100% customer renewal rate. Customers and partners include mobile market leaders such as Cisco Systems, CommonTime®, CUNA Mutual, EDS, Extended Systems, Good Technologies, HP, Intel, Intermec, Microsoft, PalmOne, PalmSource, Schindler Elevator, Symbol and U.S. Army Medical Command. CREDANT is recognized by Gartner as the visionary leader in mobile data protection and has been selected twice by Red Herring as one of the top 100 privately held companies and one of the top 100 Innovators for 2004.

To be eligible for this award, the entrepreneur must still be active in his or her company, employ fewer than 100 employees, have been in business for at least 3 years, be involved in the community and demonstrate strong sales growth. An essay about each nominee was submitted describing their unique or interesting use of computer technology to drive business processes that benefits the company, employees or customers.

Bob Heard will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2005 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Spring, Calif. on November 19, 2005.
