CREDANT Technologies Joins the Network Admission Control Program

CREDANT to help extend NAC to enforce protection of valuable information stored on mobile devices

DALLAS – March 9, 2005 – CREDANT Technologies®, the market leader in enabling organizations to control security for their mobile devices, has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC) program, an industry effort initiated and led by Cisco Systems. CREDANT is committed to security industry innovation and will extend the enforcement of NAC compliance to mobile devices through the integration of CREDANT’s award-winning Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition with the Cisco Trust Agent (CTA) technology delivered through the NAC effort.

By joining the NAC program, CREDANT’s solution will provide end-point security that helps protect corporate data housed on traditional devices, such as notebook computers and tablet PCs, and less traditional devices, like PDAs and smartphones, which are common in the enterprise.

This will help enterprises feel confident that data stored on their mobile devices is protected in such a way to minimize the possibility that lost or stolen mobile devices can be used to infiltrate the network or damage the organization’s brand and reputation.

The NAC program, first announced in November 2003 and led by Cisco Systems, is an industry effort that uses the network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on all devices seeking to access network computing resources. These security measures limit the damage caused by worms, viruses and other attacks. NAC is a critical component of Cisco’s Self-Defending network security strategy that helps customers utilize the network to help identify, prevent and adapt to security threats.

“With the proliferation of mobile computing devices, an organization’s informational assets have never been more available and less secure,” said CREDANT Technologies President and CEO Bob Heard. “Regulatory compliance is putting tremendous pressure on organizations to optimize the security of all of their mobile computing devices, and the only way they’re going to be able to do it is with enterprise-scale NAC-compliant products like the CREDANT Mobile Guardian. We are pleased to be extending the NAC program to support the protection of corporate information stored on mobile devices.”

Generally available since 2002, the CREDANT Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition is designed for enterprises that require a centralized solution that integrates with their existing IT infrastructure. Organizations that can benefit from Mobile Guardian include those that need to enforce security and ensure compliance on a large number of mobile devices with access to the network.

“CREDANT understands that protecting the network and critical informational assets extends to all of the devices that access the network,” said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at Cisco Systems. “By joining the NAC program, CREDANT will further help ensure the protection of the valuable information enterprises have stored on their employees’ mobile devices, which are outside of, and oftentimes beyond, the secured network perimeter.”
