CREDANT Technologies Joins Trusted Computing Group

Leader in mobile security will support TCG-enabled platforms with CREDANT Mobile Guardian

CREDANT Technologies® has joined the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an independent organization devoted to the creation of standards for strengthening the computing platform against software-based attacks. As the group has gained traction with more traditional security standards, it has branched out to include security for mobile devices, the area in which CREDANT is the market leader.

“Data security has become an ever-increasing concern for companies with different kinds of mobile devices in the field,” said Brian Berger, TCG marketing work group chair. “CREDANT’s expertise in the mobile security market will be a valuable contribution in the development of future specifications and products in this area.”

As part of TCG, CREDANT will help develop standards and implement solutions for mobile security. The company continues to introduce new applications for its award-winning Mobile Guardian security offerings, and membership in TCG will help ensure those applications evolve in step with security standards. Adherence to standards will minimize barriers to adoption by providing a common user experience across different TCG-enabled platforms while ultimately contributing to improved security for sensitive data stored on mobile devices including laptops, PDAs or smartphones.

“The Trusted Computing Group is dedicated to something we believe in very much – the need to reduce complexity while securing the important data housed on mobile computing devices,” said CREDANT Technologies President and CEO Bob Heard. “We are committed to helping develop the security standards and products that will govern future security measures for mobile devices.”

More than 100 companies worldwide are current TCG members, including Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Sony, and Sun Microsystems and many leading mobile systems and services vendors. TCG has active work groups for server, mobile devices, storage, peripherals and other implementation specifications. Hardware and software specifications have been completed and are available on the organization's website.
