Credant Releases Shield for Windows Servers

Robust Data Security Solution Secures Information on Servers and in Transit

ADDISON, Texas — August 24, 2011 — Credant Technologies, the trusted experts in data protection, today announced the launch of the open Beta program for Credant Shield for Windows Server, the military-grade data security solution protecting sensitive data on hard drives and on removable media. Following the recent release of Enterprise Server 7.1.1, Credant’s flagship product, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure encryption software for VDI cloud infrastructures; Credant Shield for Windows Server will automatically encrypt data on Windows servers as well as data moving on or off server hard drives to removable media.

Data stored on servers, surrounded by the best network and physical security protocols, should be the most secure in the enterprise. However physical loss of hard drives, improper disposal or re-use of discs or unmanaged copying of information onto removable devices (USB drives, DVDs and CDs) raises the risk of disclosure of sensitive information. With protection from Credant Shield for Windows Server, files are rendered unreadable and without authorized access, security keys are safely locked away.

Credant’s proven data protection and encryption management technology, used by more than 1,000 enterprise customers around the world, dramatically lowers the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive files. Employing robust encryption algorithms, sensitive information remains secure. Centrally defined and rigorously enforced policies ensure that any file copied or transferred onto removable media is encrypted.

“Data stored on Windows Servers pose a unique set of security issues. Systems can be remotely or locally accessed, resulting in compromise or theft of an organization’s most sensitive data,” said Chris Burchett, CTO and co-founder of Credant Technologies. “Credant Shield for Windows Server ensures that data at rest on Windows Servers and data on transportable devices is secure from accidental and malicious breaches, putting management and staff at ease.”

Credant Shield for Windows Server is a robust security system providing state-of-the art encryption while addressing key business issues. Features include:

  • • Centralized management reduces workload for administrators while providing enterprise-wide risk and compliance assessment reports across all systems housing data,
  • Low impact on performance keeps business functions operating at full effectiveness without compromising security,
  • • Simple, secure policy creation and enforcement ensures data is protected even when moved off the server to any removable media.
